The UFC has a new middleweight champion as Michael Bisping defeated Luke Rockhold by first-round knockout in the main event of UFC 199 from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
Bisping and Rockhold engaged in an expletive-filled war of words in the lead-up to the fight and even continued as they met face to face in the center of the Octagon. The Brit would go on to put an end to Rockhold’s short title reign with a two heavy overhand lefts, the second of which sent Rockhold reeling to the mat.
Bisping followed up with a couple extra strikes before the referee stepped in as Rockhold could no longer defend himself. Other UFC fighters took to Twitter to react to the middleweight title changing hands for the third time since 2013.
