WATCH: UFC Fight Night Shogun vs. Henderson 2 Weigh-In
Former champions Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Dan Henderson both made weight without any problems during Saturday’s weigh-ins from Natal, Brazil, giving the green light for Sunday’s main event in what has to be one of the most highly andicipated rematches in UFC history.
Co-main event fighter C.B. Dollaway did his part to invite a heated Brazilian crowd to get even louder as he weighed in before having his opponent Cezar ‘Mutante’ Ferreira put his fist right on his neck as they stared down. Dollaway just smiled in response before the two fighters shook hands and left the stage.
TUF Smashes winner Norman Parke was the most vocal fighter during the weigh-ins, getting nose to nose with opponent Leonardo Santos and shouting at him before UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby had to intervene and separate the two competitors.
The only fighter who missed weight on Saturday was middleweight Ronny Markes, who came in at 190 pounds — a full four pounds over the limit for his bout against Thiago Santos. Markes has one hour to cut the additional weight or he will be penalized a percentage of his fight purse as punishment. Given the little amount of time and excessive weight, it’s unlikely Markes will make it in time, but he has 60 minutes to try.
