UFC announces several new fights for return to Abu Dhabi in April
The UFC will return to Abu Dhabi on Friday, April 11 with a show headlined by heavyweights Roy Nelson and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and the promotion has now announced the remaining fights set to take place on the card.
The co-main event as first reported by FOX Sports will feature a featherweight battle between Tatsuya Kawajiri and Clay Guida in a battle between two of the best in the 145-pound division.
The UFC Fight Night card in Abu Dhabi also added a slew of new fights including a heavyweight tilt between Jared Rosholt and Polish fighter Daniel Omielanczuk. Both fighters are coming off wins in their UFC debuts so it should be an intriguing matchup to see who will take a step forward in an ever widening heavyweight division.
Middleweights Andrew Craig and Chris Camozzi have also agreed to meet on the upcoming card as well as grappling expert Rani Yahya when he takes on former Ultimate Fighter competitor Johnny Bedford.
Ramsey Nijem, fresh off a win in his last fight against Justin Edwards will take on undefeated second time UFC fighter Beneil Dariush, who made quite an impression in his debut making short work of Octagon veteran Charlie Brenneman.
Debuting fighters Jim Alers and Alan Omer will meet in a featherweight fight on the undercard as well.
Flyweights Alptekin Ozkilic will look to bounce back from a recent loss to Louis Smolka when he faces Dustin Ortiz. Ryan LaFlare and John Howard face off in an intriguing welterweight showdown between two fighters on solid win streaks, and the final fight on the card announced on Tuesday pits middleweight striker Trevor Smith against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Thales Leites.
The upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Abu Dhabi will stream live via the UFC’s digital network Fight Pass with start times for the show to be announced at a later date.
