UFC 205: Punch Test Shows Conor McGregor Hits Harder Than Eddie Alvarez

An interesting punch test has produced some even more interesting results ahead of the main event of UFC 205.

By now we all know very well just how hard of a punch Conor McGregor can throw when he is inside the UFC’s octagon.

The Irish mega-star has used that power to finish Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, Dustin Poirier, Dennis Siver and Marcus Brimage during his time with the promotion. Now thanks to the UFC punch meter that was set up for the fighters to try out, we have official confirmation of just how hard McGregor actually hits and just who he beat during the test as well.

The score in which McGregor’s punch came in at defeated that of Eddie Alvarez, who he will be fighting in Saturday’s main event, and that of Stephen Thompson who is challenging for the welterweight title in the nights co-main event.

The full scores can be seen below.

The only fighters who have survived the technique, accuracy and power of McGregor’s shots have been Max Holloway and Nate Diaz who has faced Conor twice. Max Holloway and Conor McGregor squared off back in August of 2013 where it was ‘The Notorious’ who walked away from the fight with a unanimous decision victory.

Diaz and McGregor engaged in two instant classics with each man defeating the other. At UFC 196 it was Diaz who was the better man, submitting McGregor in the second round. However most recently at UFC 202 the featherweight champion evened the score thanks to his majority decision nod from the judges.

In the above picture the only man with more punching power is none other than Tyron Woodley which comes as no surprise considering the names that the 170-pound King has put to sleep during his tenure with the promotion.
