It’s back-to-back TUF matchups for Michael Chiesa. The season 15 champion will take on TUF Brazil alumni Francisco Trinaldo at UFC 173 in May, the promotion announced on Saturday.

In November, Chiesa returned to the win column after losing for the first time in his career. On the heels of a loss to grizzled veteran Jorge Masvidal, the 26-year-old Chiesa defeated season 16 winner Colton Smith with a second-round submission at the UFC Fight for the Troops 3 card, making him 10-1 all-time.

Trinaldo came to the UFC via TUF Brazil, where he made it to the semifinal round before losing. He has captured three of his last four octagon encounters, most recently edging Jesse Ronson in a split-decision. That victory came at the recent UFC Fight Night event in Jaragua do Sul, and like Chiesa, it put him back into the win column after a defeat. Trinaldo is 14-3 in his career.

UFC 173 is set to go down on May 24 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a main event pitting middleweight champion Chris Weidman against Lyoto Machida. Weidman had been scheduled to face Vitor Belfort until a Nevada athletic commission ruling banned testosterone replacement therapy, and Belfort was pulled from the bout.
