The Round Up: UFC fight announcements for this week

Weidman vs. Machida is still happening but not at UFC 173

The UFC had some major changes to upcoming cards including an entirely new main event for the upcoming UFC 173 pay-per-view in May while UFC 175 in July, expected to be one of the biggest cards of the year lands a huge middleweight title fight instead.

Renan Barao will step in on short notice to fight in the new main event at UFC 173 against Team Alpha Male fighter TJ Dillashaw, while Chris Weidman will undergo surgery next week and then begin preparation again for his fight against Lyoto Machida, now taking place on July 5.

In addition to these two main event switches, there were also a slew of other fights announced including numerous bouts set for some upcoming international cards as well more fights for UFC Fight Night in Albuquerque including Diego Sanchez’s return to the Octagon.
