The third time will hopefully be the charm as T.J. Dillashaw looks to put his bantamweight title on the line in a rematch against former champion Renan Barao in the main event at FOX UFC Fight Night in Chicago on July 25.
Dillashaw and Barao have been scheduled to meet on two separate occasions in the past year with neither fight actually coming to fruition.
Dillashaw beat Barao to win the title in May 2014, and the fighters were expected to face off again in the main event of UFC 177 last August. But the Brazilian’s weight cut ended in disaster, putting him in the hospital instead of the Octagon.

The matchup was then rescheduled for UFC 186 coming up on April 25 in Montreal, but this time it was Dillashaw causing the delay after suffering a rib injury in training that forced him out of the fight.
Both fighters are coming off wins going into the rematch. Dillashaw knocked out late replacement Joe Soto in his last bout in August, while Barao took out Canadian Mitch Gagnon in his first trip back to the Octagon after losing his title last year.
For now it appears all obstacles have been cleared, and the two fighters will try to do this one more time when they meet on July 25 as part of the FOX UFC Fight Night card in Chicago.
