A first round drubbing of Ruan Potts last weekend in Cincinnati will allow Soa Palelei to have an ultra quick turn around to fight close to home when he takes on Jared Rosholt on the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in New Zealand on June 28.

UFC officials announced the new bout late Tuesday evening.

Palelei (21-3) made quick work of newcomer Potts on Saturday night after taking the South African to the ground and connecting with one left hand, flush on the chin that knocked him out cold.  The win marked Palelei’s third in a row since returning to the UFC, while also adding on his 11th straight finish by knockout or TKO.

Now the Australian heavyweight will return to the land down under when he fights in Aukland, New Zealand against another undefeated prospect in the division.

Jared Rosholt (10-1) has picked up two consecutive victories since coming to the UFC, although he has yet to finish an opponent since arriving in the Octagon last year.  A former wrestler from Oklahoma State, Rosholt has one of the best grappling games in the heavyweight division, but he’ll certainly be tested facing Palelei who has been known to maul his opponents on the ground.

The new fight between Palelei and Rosholt joins the UFC Fight Night card in New Zealand taking place on June 28 airing on UFC Fight Pass.
