Roy Jones Jr. wants to fight Anderson Silva on the same card as Mayweather-McGregor

The superfight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather isn’t close to happening right now but former boxing champ Roy Jones Jr. wants people to know he’s got dibs on the co-main event spot.

Jones Jr. was recently asked for his thoughts on the proposed bout between the UFC superstar and the all-time boxing great and “Captain Hook” had a short and sweet answer.

“I think if you put Roy Jones Jr. versus Anderson Silva as the co-main event then you got yourself a good doggone fight card.” Jones Jr. told FightHype.com.

Junior also reiterated the sentiment today on Twitter.

Long before McGregor and Mayweather revealed their intentions to box -- I’m talking way back in 2009 -- Jones Jr. and Silva once agreed to step into the ring against each other.

Back then, Dana White immediately squashed the idea and nothing but rumors ever came of it. But hey, now that Mayweather vs. McGregor is an actual possibility, why not add another long talked about MMA vs. boxing match to the card.
