Rory MacDonald vs. Demian Maia official for UFC 170 in Feb.

Rory MacDonald will look to erase the bad memories of a loss

target="_blank">in his last fight when he takes on submission

specialist Demian Maia at

170 on Feb 22 in Las Vegas.

The bout was rumored to be in the works earlier this week, but

UFC officials

have confirmed the top ten welterweight battle for early

MacDonald (15-2) appeared to be on a fast track toward a title

shot next year until he ran into veteran fighter Robbie Lawler at

UFC 167. The young Canadian kept the fight close, but ended up

being overwhelmed by Lawler in the third round and lost a split

decision win the night was over.

As he looks to move on from that fight, MacDonald will face

another tough test in his next bout as he returns to Las Vegas for

his next fight at UFC 170.

Joining MacDonald on the road to redemption is Demian Maia

(18-5), who will try to pick up his fourth win in the welterweight

target="_blank">after suffering his first loss in the weight class

back in October.

It was there that Maia faced fellow grappler Jake Shields and

also fell by way of split decision on the judges’ scorecards.

The battle between MacDonald and Maia will be a featured fight

on the main card of the UFC 170 pay-per-view headlined by the five

round light heavyweight tilt

target="_blank">between Rashad Evans and Daniel Cormier.
