Nate Diaz takes a shot at the UFC ahead of his rematch with Conor McGregor
Nate Diaz has no problem adapting to the philosophy of "me against the world" especially when it comes to his upcoming rematch against Conor McGregor at UFC 202.
Diaz never doubted that he would beat McGregor when they first met at UFC 196, even if he only had 10 days to prepare for the main-event bout.
The win by Diaz shook up the natural order at the UFC after he seized the spotlight while McGregor was left begging for a second chance to rectify the loss he suffered back in March.
Now, just 48-hours away from the rematch, Diaz says the UFC is sweating the possibility that he wins again and he believes deep down they are rooting against him beating McGregor for a second time because then they've got a real problem on their hands.
"Look at what’s happening. I get paid finally after I've been stuck in a contract for years and they sell the UFC. It’s changing because of what’s going on here and if people don't recognize that, they're tripping," Diaz told "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday. "That’s why they threw me back in there, they want to weed me out and try to get me out of here until it gets too big."
Diaz has certainly enjoyed the spotlight over the past few months after dispatching McGregor in impressive fashion in their first meeting.
From appearances on late night talk shows like "Conan" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to a social media war with pop brat Justin Bieber, Diaz has enjoyed becoming the star he always believed he should have been anyways.
That's why he's so convinced the UFC wants him to lose on Saturday night because Diaz is a much different animal to deal with than the poster boy they've got right now with McGregor.
Unfortunately, Diaz says despite anybody rooting against him or hoping he doesn't win will be sorely disappointed when he goes out and hands McGregor another loss on Saturday night.
"It’s already an unstoppable force that’s going at a high pace.
As far as his strategy going into the fight, Diaz doesn't make predictions on how he'll beat McGregor other than knowing that he's going to win.
Of course, Diaz doesn't lack confidence when it comes to all the ways he's better than McGregor — or every other fighter on the UFC roster according to him.
"I always train hard, harder than I believe anybody so I'm coming to fight. I'm coming to win. That's what I'm here for," Diaz said.
"I plan on going in there fighting. I feel like I've got the best stand up in the whole game and best ground. I don't even care, man, whatever it's all good. It's a mixed martial arts fight so I'm going to fight."
