Josh Barnett will spend his summer filming a new movie before finally targeting a return to the Octagon later this year and he’s got his eye on a matchup with Roy Nelson for his next fight in the UFC.
According to Barnett’s manager Leland LaBarre via UFC Tonight, the former heavyweight champion was readying for a potential summer fight before he landed a movie role in a film starring opposite Michael Jai White.

Once he’s done with his film role, Barnett hopes to get back in action sometime this fall with an opponent in mind for his next fight.
Barnett is targeting a fight with former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Roy Nelson, who has called out ‘The Warmaster’ on several occasions in the past and now it appears the fight might actually become a reality.
Both fighters are coming off recent losses and, depending on timing, the fight could make perfect sense for the UFC at a show later this year.
For now, Barnett will focus on his new movie before returning to full-time training and booking his next UFC bout.
