Holly Holm vs. Germaine De Randamie official; one fight scrapped from UFC 208

BROOKLYN — The first ever UFC women's featherweight champion will be crowned this weekend and both fighters involved in the main event came under the 145-pound limit on Friday at the official weigh-ins.

Holly Holm was one of the first fighters to hit the scale as she came in at 144.4 pounds for her first fight in the featherweight division in the UFC.

Holm is a former bantamweight champion, but now she moves up in weight for the opportunity to add another title to her already impressive resume between mixed martial arts and boxing.

Her opponent, Germaine De Randamie followed a few minutes later and also had no problem making weight at 143.6 pounds.

Both fighters could have tipped the scale as heavy as 145 pounds but clearly Holm and De Randamie had no issue making the limit as they move up from bantamweight for this championship opportunity.

In the co-main event, Anderson Silva was actually the last fighter to hit the scale for the weigh-ins on Friday but had no problems making 185 pounds with a smile on his face as he returns for the first time since stepping up on two days notice to face light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 200.

Meanwhile, Derek Brunson was in the first group of fighters to weigh in on Friday morning coming in at exactly 186 pounds as he looks to bounce back from a loss in his last fight to Robert Whittaker.

One fight was scrapped from the card entirely after heavyweight Justin Willis was deemed medically unfit to compete, which forced him to be pulled from the event ahead of the weigh-ins. Willis later explained in a post on Facebook that he was unable to make weight after accepting the fight on short notice and UFC doctors would not allow him to continue.

"I did everything I could to make weight for the fight this weekend but due to the short notice my body shut down during the weight cut and the UFC doctors wouldn't clear me to fight," Willis said. "I will be back in the UFC with a full camp very soon."

Willis' opponent Marcin Tybura had already weighed in at 245.4 pounds and he will be paid his show money for the event with the fight now scrapped for UFC 208.

The event will now move forward with 11 total fights.

The early weigh-ins took place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Brooklyn ahead of the ceremonial weigh-ins where the fighters will face of at 6 p.m. ET on Friday.
