Matt Mitrione and Gabriel Gonzaga will meet at UFC Fight Night on FOX in Phoenix on Dec. 13, FOX Sports has learned. UFC officials confirmed the fight booking Friday.
A heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Stefan Struve on the card was already made official earlier this week and a huge heavyweight contender matchup pitting Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic is also being targeted for the U.S. Airways Center.

Mitrione (8-3) is coming off a 41-second knockout of Derrick Lewis earlier this month in Connecticut. He has won two straight and on the verge of cracking the UFC heavyweight contender top 15. The 36-year-old former NFL player is an "Ultimate Fighter" alum and seems to be finally coming into his own as an MMA fighter after getting a late start with the sport. All of his 11 bouts have come inside the UFC Octagon.
Gonzaga (16-8) has been around a long time. He first debuted in the UFC back in 2005 and actually fought Hall of Famer Randy Couture in a heavyweight title fight in 2007. Gonzaga, 35, is most known for his headkick knockout of Mirko Cro Crop, but that was seven years ago. Most recently, he has won two of his last three bouts, but is coming off a loss to Miocic in January.
UFC Fight Night on FOX in Phoenix does not currently have a main event set, though it very well could be dos Santos vs. Miocic. The UFC has never been to Arizona, but its parent company, Zuffa, held the final WEC card ever in Glendale back in 2010.
