Ben Rothwell calls Andrei Arlovski out for UFC 195

Ben Rothwell has never quite exploded someone's head with one of his big punches, but that doesn't mean the heavyweight can't still dream.

Ben Rothwell doesn’t wait for opponents to call him out, or for the UFC to suggest opponents for him. The heavyweight contender is missing out on a planned fight, this weekend, after originally-scheduled opponent Stipe Miocic pulled out of the Dublin match with an injury.

The 34-year-old has won three straight, and is eager to move towards a title shot, so he took to the internet last night to call for a fight he believes will get him closer to that goal. Apparently, Rothwell doesn’t mind trying to avenge previous losses, either.

In a thread on MMA internet forum and FOX Sports content partner, The Underground, titled "Rothwell vs. Arlovski for Jan 2nd," Rothwell publicly declared is desire to fight former heavyweight world champion and fellow top contender Andrei Arlovski. "I want this fight to happen," he wrote.

"That card [UFC 195] needs a co-main."

UFC 195 has a welterweight championship main event between Robbie Lawler and challenger Carlos Condit. "UG blow UFC the fu*k up," Rothwell implored his fans.

"Demand we get matched."

According to Rothwell, he doesn’t want another date with Miocic because he doesn’t have confidence that the Ohio fireman wouldn’t get injured and pull out, again. "Why not Stipe," he asked, rhetorically, "I’ll train and waste another 2 (sic) months of my life only to have his back go out again. Andrei shows up to fight."

Indeed he does, just as he did when he knocked Rothwell out in 2008. That fight was forever ago, in fight terms, and Rothwell is doubtless confident that he could produce a different result this time out.

Well, that is putting it lightly. Rothwell doesn’t just want to win, he wants to do some real damage.

"I want to blow someone’s head up with my fist," he concluded.

"Just saying."

Someone get this man a fight. He seems ready.
