Jon Jones has already been offered movie roles and a reality show

Reality TV or action movies? Jon Jones could end up doing both

Jon Jones has aspirations that will one day take him far away from the UFC Octagon and the light heavyweight title of the world, but he’s got a slow and steady approach when it comes to his future endeavors.

The reigning UFC light heavyweight champion is just weeks away from his showdown against Glover Teixeira at UFC 172 in Baltimore, and assuming he comes out victorious he already has his next opponent set with Alexander Gustafsson waiting in the wings.  There are also potential challengers out there with names like Phil Davis and Daniel Cormier, so Jones’ schedule will stay jam packed if he holds onto the title in the next 18 months.

It would appear his dance card is filled and it won’t leave much room for other opportunities, but Jones still has plans to one day dabble in acting and maybe even a reality show when the time allows him a breather to take up some offers that have already been placed on the table.  According to Jones’ manager Malki Kawa, the 205-pound champion definitely plans on pursuing a career in Hollywood, but it won’t come at the expense of his UFC title or the precious moments he spends at home with his family.

"Actually, Jon’s been offered a lot of different acting opportunities.  He’s actually been offered some different roles, some very cool ones that the timing just wasn’t right, and I don’t think Jon was really ready for them because of training camps and some of the things he had going on.  Just so you guys are aware, he could have had his first movie done a year and a half ago, two years ago, he’s been offered some parts," Kawa told FOX Sports.

"There’s a reality show deal on the table for him right now.  There’s a whole bunch of things going on for him, his brothers, everything.  There’s a lot of opportunities out there, but Jon is concentrating on this fight stuff.  He’s going to get this fight done and over with, and once this fight is done you’ll start hearing more about Jon getting involved with acting."

Jones has commented in the past that he hopes to one day follow the acting model that former WWE star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson blazed when he subtly started taking parts in big Hollywood features before slowly fazing out of his career in professional wrestling.  Now, Johnson is considered one of the biggest action stars in the business and he was the top-grossing actor in all of 2013 with his films pulling in over $1.3 billion at the box office.

Kawa sees Jones doing much the same when he finally starts to explore his acting interests, first focusing on action roles just like Johnson before testing the waters as a comedic star or maybe even a drama here and there.  As fanatical as Jones is about his fight career and preparation for every bout, Kawa says the fighter is just as driven about acting and doesn’t want to step into a role without actually knowing he’ll be good at it.

There have been some interesting offers for Jones on the table already, but his primary goal remains being the best UFC fighter on the planet.  When time finally allows him a breather, Jones will then start to look into more serious acting roles.

"I think action will be the natural fit for him at first.  I would bet the house that it’s action, but my boys at William Morris come up with crazy stuff so you never know.  Hot Tub Time Machine 2, I think they had a part for him in that and timing just didn’t work out, it wasn’t right, but he can be in all types of stuff," Kawa said.

"He’s going to pick and choose and maybe 10 years from now when he’s done with fighting, he’ll turn around and maybe he’ll be ready 1000-percent an actor."

The one thing Kawa wants to be very clear ahead of Jones next title defense in April against Glover Teixeria is that the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport has a lot of dreams that he will one day realize, but right now his only goal is to be the best UFC champion there’s ever been.

"He’s very driven.  He’s very focused. I have never seen him more focused than he is for this fight," Kawa said.  "It’s as if he has something personal to prove with Glover, although he doesn’t.  I think we’re going to see the best Jon Jones we’ve ever seen."
