Maia was his typical smothering self, as he kept Masvidal in a tight body lock for majority of the fight while working his submissions. And while he wasn’t able to force Masvidal to tap out, he was able to secure a shot at the welterweight title, according to UFC president Dana White.
Edgar swarmed on Rodriguez early in the first round, and after earning an early takedown, Edgar went to work on Rodriguez with elbows. The shots were so vicious that Rodriguez’s eye was swollen shut and rendered useless at the end of the round.
Doctors let Rodriguez go one more round before stopping the bout in between round 2 and 3.
