Former world No. 1, two-time slam winner Azarenka to miss French Open

The foot injury that brought Victoria Azarenka to her knees in March will also keep her out of the French Open beginning later this month.

Victoria Azarenka will miss the French Open because of a left foot injury.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Roland Garros this year. Working hard on my recovery & getting back on the court," the former top-ranked player said Sunday on Twitter.

Azarenka last played on tour at Indian Wells, California on March 7.

The French Open begins May 25 in Paris.

Azarenka, from Belarus, is a two-time Australian Open champion and a two-time U.S. Open runner-up.
