No. 1 Wozniacki commits to Family Circle Cup

Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki will play in the Family Circle Cup.

Tournament organizers said Friday that the 2009 runner-up had committed to the tournament in Charleston, S.C.

Defending champion Samantha Stosur, Jelena Jankovic, Maria Sharapova and American Melanie Oudin are among the top players who have agreed to play at the event on April 2-10 at the Family Circle Tennis Center at Daniel Island.

Wozniacki has 13 singles titles and more than $8.5 million in prize money in six years on the WTA tour.

The 20-year-old from Denmark won six of her titles last year and became the 20th woman to take the top spot in the rankings when she ousted Serena Williams in October.
