Hantuchova reaches Monterrey final
Daniela Hantuchova rallied to beat fellow Slovak Dominika Cibulkova
4-6, 6-3, 6-0 on Saturday in the Monterrey Open semifinals.
The second-seeded Hantuchova, seeking her fourth WTA title,
will face third-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or unseeded
Anastasija Sevastova in the final.
Pavlyuchenkova and Sevastova will play their semifinal early
Sunday after it was their scheduled Saturday match was postponed
because of heavy rain.
“I didn’t have a good start. It was difficult to find a way
to win, but I’m happy I was able to,” Hantuchova said. “In the
first set, I didn’t take my opportunities. So, from the second set,
I decided I had to be aggressive. I was hoping it wouldn’t rain.”
