April 6th, 2019: Williams Syndrome Association

Individuals with Williams syndrome (WS) have extraordinary gifts and unique challenges, but not enough people know that. With an incidence of 1 in 10,000, WS is a genetic condition that remains largely unknown to the general public, educators and many doctors. Williams syndrome is characterized by medical and developmental delays, cardiovascular disease and learning disabilities. At the same time, people with WS often have advance verbal skills, highly social personalities and an affinity for music. Individuals with Williams syndrome need costly, ongoing medical care, therapies and specialized education and training strategies throughout their lives.
