Throughout the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, FOX Sports Supports shined a spotlight on two nonprofit organizations using the power of soccer to create positive social change: Soccer Without Borders and streetfootballworld. The first two features tell the stories of Soccer Without Borders members, Shiham and Ophi, who found safe places within the program to start their new lives in America. The third feature was shot in France during the Women’s World Cup at streetfootballworld Festival 19, a convergence of nonprofits from around the world that focuses attention on the work each organization is doing in its respective country. These pieces aired on FS1 and FOX Sports digital platforms during FOX Sports’ exclusive coverage of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. FOX Sports Supports’ pillar partner, Girls Inc., became the focal point of a FOX Sports University project at Penn State University this spring. Students in a capstone public relations course were tasked with producing a promotional campaign for Girls Inc. that would educate viewers on the organization’s mission and raise awareness for their cause: inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Each team of students included a concept for a public service announcement in their final presentations to representatives of Girls Inc., Women of FOX Sports, FOX Sports University and FOX Sports Supports. The winning team’s PSA idea, “Show Her She Can,” was brought to life on the FOX Studio Lot in Los Angeles and features FOX Sports talent Curt Menefee, Jenny Taft and Eric Karros on a set run exclusively by young girls. It debuted during programming on FS1 and FS2 earlier this month and will continue airing on FOX, FS1 and FS2 through the end of the year. An in-depth look at the FOX Sports University project at Penn State University can be found here, and to learn more about how you can show her she can, visit www.girlsinc.org.
