Donations of Speed and Agility-themed Fitness Equipment Keep Youth Active and Support Club Programming

Daytona Beach, FL – Today, FOX Sports announces the donation of new fitness equipment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia / Flagler Counties to help kick off the broadcaster’s  21st season of NASCAR coverage in advance of the DAYTONA 500 on FOX on Sunday, Feb. 14 (2:30 PM ET).

Speed and agility-themed equipment donations will support the eight Boys & Girls Clubs in the region and their ability to continue to provide programming for their 250 members, keeping them active and engaged in physical fitness during and beyond the pandemic.

The donation being delivered to the John H. Dickerson Club in Daytona Beach includes resistance parachutes, agility ladders, speed rings, ankle speed bands, mini hurdles and jump ropes.

“Our club kids have had to readjust how they interact with each other in every way. The toughest thing was relearning how to play and share experiences together,” said John H. Dickerson Boys & Girls Club Unit Director Tangela Hardy. “We are so thankful to FOX Sports and Good Sports for providing our members this amazing opportunity to be able to play and utilize the incredible equipment.”

The donations are an extension of FOX Sports’ work with national nonprofit partner Good Sports on the Restore Play initiative to provide at least $15 million in sports and fitness equipment to thousands of youth organizations and children across the country who have endured significant setbacks due to COVID-19.

“We’re seeing many youth-serving organizations still trying to keep their kids engaged amidst the pandemic, so our goal is to provide program leaders with the best gear possible,” said Good Sports COO, Christy Keswick. “With Restore Play and partners like FOX Sports, Good Sports is able to donate much needed brand-new sports equipment to help kids get physically active as well as develop social skills and lifelong cognitive abilities alongside their peers.”

Restore Play partners are critical for Good Sports to provide the equipment, footwear and apparel necessary to restore youth sports programs and give children in need access to play as quickly as possible.
