WWE Survivor Series 2016: Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler Set
After beating Rusev, Sami Zayn will be facing Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series.
On the November 1 episode of WWE SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler issued an open challenge for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series. The twist would be that its an opportunity for a Raw Superstar to go after his title. This comes after The Miz refused to have another match for the belt he lost at No Mercy.
The perception had been that the person to face Ziggler at Survivor Series wouldn’t be announced until the day of the pay-per-view. However, on Monday’s episode of Raw, Stephanie McMahon would set Sami Zayn vs. Rusev to determine the opponent.
Well, after Zayn hit a Helluva Kick and got the successful pin, he became the No. 1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship. This made his match with Ziggler at Survivor Series official.

The title match for The Likeable One is his first since WWE Extreme Rules, also for the Intercontinental Championship. Miz retained in an excellent match over the new No. 1 Contender, Cesaro, and Kevin Owens. Zayn has since feuded with Owens, but then fell into the background of Raw after the Brand Extension.
However, Survivor Series will be the former NXT Champion’s chance to get back on the map. He’ll have the opportunity to go for a title in front of his home country of Canada, which will surely fire up the Air Canada Centre on Sunday, November 20.
Does Zayn have a chance at winning the belt? That remains to be seen. It’s unknown if him walking out victorious means he would stay on Raw or move to SmackDown. If it’s the latter, then there’s a real chance of Ziggler taking the loss. If not, then it makes little sense to imbalance the amount of championships on each brand.
