WWE Survivor Series 2016: Raw vs. SmackDown Matches Filling the Card
We may be seeing a handful of Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown matches for the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view.
WWE Survivor Series will take place on Sunday, November 20. With Raw having to go through their Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, there hasn’t been much talk of next month’s show yet. Goldberg’s return to WWE may prompt that, but there may be a clearer indication of where the show is going.
On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon proposed a few ways to make Survivor Series grand for its 30-year anniversary. They first mentioned a traditional 5-on-5 Elimination match with Raw and SmackDown’s best male stars. The ante would quickly get pushed to a 5-on-5 Elimination match with Raw and SmackDown’s best female stars. They would conclude by going to a third step, which would have Raw’s five best tag teams vs. SmackDown’s five best tag teams. It would make the show full of brand vs. brand matches to determine who is the best.

Three Elimination matches should bring the old-school feel back to one of WWE’s oldest PPVs. The 5-on-5 bout has been hit or miss over the past few years. 2014’s contest saw Team Cena vs. Team Authority, and the WWE debut of Sting. 2015 saw Ryback, The Usos, and The Lucha Dragons vs. New Day, Sheamus, and King Barrett. As you would imagine, it was forgettable.
Having these three matches should open up a main event spot for a potential Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg match. The former WCW star will appear on Monday’s episode of Raw to answer this challenge, and it would be surprising if he declined.
So, does having three 5-on-5 Raw vs. SmackDown matches at Survivor Series intrigue you?
