Monday’s WWE Raw is headlined by two title matches. What else can we expect to see on the flagship show?
Hear ye, hear ye! Peasants gather round, for your queen has returned to her homeland intent on defending her gold against the vile Sasha Banks on Raw.
Get it? Because it’s Charlotte returning to Charlotte, NC, and she calls herself the queen, and… you know what, nevermind. The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line tonight as Sasha Banks will look to make herself a three-time Women’s Champion with all three victories occurring on Raw. That will be one of two championship matches, the other featuring the New Day defending their titles on Raw for the second straight week, this time against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.
Raw actually has every reason to slow down a bit right now as their next PPV event, WWE Roadblock, isn’t until December 18th. But it looks like they have no intention of doing any such thing. Title matches, more build for mid-card feuds, everything going on right now points to Raw having a quality show tonight and hopefully for the next several weeks. Let’s get into the specifics of why tonight should deliver with this week’s full Raw preview.
Charlotte Defends Her Women’s Championship Against Sasha Banks
As mentioned earlier, Sasha Banks will look to make it three times that she has defeated Charlotte for the WWE Women’s Championship on Raw. It seems like there has been a major increase in title changes on non-PPVs over the past year or so, and that’s definitely a positive for the product. But when it happens too often with the same title and the same person, it can get a little stale.
Banks’ first victory was a fantastic moment. No one really expected the title to change hands that night and seeing her win it and finally have her moment was truly a sight to see. Then she was forced to drop it due to injury, but she would eventually reclaim it on another edition of Raw the following month. Surely that would begin her first true title reign, right? Wrong. She would go on to lose the belt yet again to Charlotte at Hell in a Cell, in the Boss’ hometown of Boston no less.
Now the prospect of Banks winning the title doesn’t have the luster it once did. If she wins it, then what? Another PPV with Charlotte trying to get it back? It would just be extremely old at that point. What seems more likely here is Banks fails to get the title back and someone new, probably Bayley, steps into the title picture while Banks occupies herself with someone like Nia Jax.

The New Day Defend Their Tag Team Titles Against The Club
Man, who did the New Day tick off to have to defend their titles on Raw in two consecutive weeks? After successfully holding onto their titles last week against the team of Sheamus and Cesaro, the New Day will now turn their attention to Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Do the former Bullet Club members actually have a chance of dethroning Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods? Well no, not really.
As Woods mentioned last week, the New Day are chasing Demolition’s record for the longest tag team title reign. Demolition’s record stands at 478 days, while as of tonight the New Day are at 463. They’re probably too close to the record at this point for WWE to take the belts off of them, especially on a seemingly random episode of Raw. The Club absolutely deserve to be the next tag team champions, especially since they’ve been booked pretty horrible since coming to WWE, but tonight will not be that night.
So when will they finally drop the titles? Roadblock is a possibility since they will have broken the record by then. And if not, they may honestly hold the titles up until WrestleMania. Their reign has become so impressive and so dominant that them finally losing the titles may only be appropriate on a stage as big as Mania, especially considering their eventual loss of the titles will likely signal the end of the New Day as a team.

Will Seth Rollins Retaliate?
In what ended up being a fantastic main event, Seth Rollins challenged Kevin Owens last week for the WWE Universal Championship. It was an all-out brawl that ended up in the crowd for much of the contest and even featured Seth Rollins jumping off the top of a tunnel to take out Owens. Roman Reigns and Chris Jericho were both banned from ringside, but that did not stop Jericho from coming out in a Sin Cara mask and Shinsuke Nakamura hoodie and ultimately costing Rollins the match.
So what’s next for Rollins? After Jericho effectively cost him the Universal Championship, he will undoubtedly be looking for revenge. Perhaps tonight we’ll see Rollins vs Jericho in order for the Architect to get his hands on the curator of the list. There’s also a solid chance that Rollins vs Owens gets officially booked for Roadblock. Mick Foley will likely look at last week’s result and realize it was unfair, giving Rollins another chance at the belt at Raw’s next PPV.
And this could be looking a bit too far ahead, but that match will likely have some stipulation added to it considering Jericho’s constant interference. Although the Hell in a Cell couldn’t keep him out, maybe a steel cage would. Or maybe the match just becomes no DQ so anyone and everyone can interfere if they so choose. One thing is for sure, Rollins is not going to be happy tonight, and the next chapter of his feud with Owens will be written.
