WWE NXT Results: Highlights, Analysis, and Grades for November 23
Follow along with our review of Wednesday night’s episode of WWE NXT.
On Wednesday night, the latest episode of WWE NXT took place. Matches would air from Toronto, Canada, ones that got taped before NXT TakeOver: Toronto went on the air, last Saturday.
Much of this episode of WWE NXT recapped the recent live special. We saw segments from nearly every match, including a lengthy one of Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship. This saw Joe win the belt back after losing it in August.
Interviews from TakeOver were also seen, including Tye Dillinger’s thoughts on his loss. Mickie James also discussed her return to WWE and thinking she had Asuka’s number.
Outside of the recaps, there were two matches.
The first saw Rich Swann take on Kona “Noah Potjes” Reeves. This match put Swann on display before next Tuesday’s 205 Live premiere. There would be an interesting interference, though. Who showed up?
A six-woman tag match would main event NXT. This saw Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato take on Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah. The newest faces of NXT’s women’s division would be in display, but did anyone stand out?
With this in mind, follow along with our coverage of WWE NXT from Wednesday’s show.

Rich Swann vs. Kona Reeves
Result: Match ends in a no contest.
For the new No. 1 contender to the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Swann got dominated here from a time. Yes, there was a distinct height advantage, but Reeves took him down on numerous occasions. You may remember Reeves as Noah Potjes who appeared on WWE NXT multiple times.
Toward the latter stages of the match, SAnitY came down to the ring and took out Swann and Reeves. We have no idea why they would go after these guys, but it was an all-out assault, mostly on Reeves for a few minutes. Swann tried fighting back, and even took down Alexander Wolfe, but eventually got beaten down by Eric Young and Co.

Young would say, in a promo, that we tried to do everything “your way” in regard to “this generation”. It seemed to be something to put everyone in NXT on notice. We’ll see what comes of him and the others in the coming weeks, though.
Afterward, No Way Jose came out to check on Swann. He then called out Young for a match.
This seemed like it would turn into a match, but there was no referee out there. Young and Jose started brawling, but when the latter man got overtaken by the rest of SAnitY, it spelled his doom.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Recap

Well, Berenato is going to destroy someone.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match Recap
We get a look at TakeOver’s NXT Tag Team Championship match. This saw Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat the Revival to win the titles.
A spectacular match that must be seen again. It really may have been the best tag team match of 2016, and potentially a WWE Match of the Year candidate.
Gargano and Ciampa Interview
Ciampa says this title tells the story of their journey. He and Gargano then say they love each other and how they pulled off a win.
Mickie James Interview

Aliyah, Ember Moon, and Liv Morgan vs. Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato
Result: Aliyah, Ember Moon, and Liv Morgan defeated Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato via pinfall.
Rating: 2.25 out of 5 stars
Daria Berenato looked particularly impressive in this match. Her promo work is still a bit stiff, but in the ring, she can hold her own. The MMA-style is working so far and gives her plenty of potentially for whenever NXT decides to get serious with her singles run.
Aliyah played the babyface in peril role for the majority of this match, taking plenty of offense from all three members of the opposition. She’s got potential as well, which has yet to be tapped into.
The star of this match was Moon, though. She only wrestled for a few minutes, but the crowd loves her and the diving corkscrew stunner (still without a name) is getting her over. It’s a unique and devastating finishing maneuver that has been enough to draw the attention of fans. If she can develop a character, then we may have a superstar to challenge Asuka. That’s still very far away, but Moon is the closest of any woman in NXT.
NXT Championship Announcement
To close WWE NXT, we got the announcement that Samoa Joe will defend the NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in two weeks in Osaka, Japan. Interesting that this is taking place so soon. It’s in Nakamura’s homeland, so is he getting another shining moment? If not, this may open a new chapter in the main event scene for NXT.
