WWE Issues Statement on Paige's Wellness Policy Violation
WWE has issued a statement on Paige’s comments about her suspension, which should make this go in another direction.
On Monday, WWE announced that Paige had been suspended 60 days for violating the company’s Wellness Policy. This is her second violation in 2016 as WWE suspended her in August for 30 days. Two-time violators receive the length of time that the British star got.
After the suspension got announced, Paige made two comments on Twitter, stating her displeasure with WWE’s actions. However, WWE released their own statement to the New York Post, which may lead to a battle:
“Saraya-Jade Bevis tested positive for an illegal substance, not a prescription drug. In addition, WWE is providing world-class medical care for her in-ring injury.”
It wouldn’t be surprising to see this lead to a legal situation. Paige’s future in WWE may be the more intriguing situation, though.
Given everything that has happened this year, the two-time Divas Champion could be on her way out of the company. Two suspensions in three months doesn’t happen every day. Plus, her neck injury is keeping her away from the ring for an indefinite period. Add Paige’s public relationship recently released WWE star, Alberto Del Rio, and it’s all ways for Vince McMahon and Co. to release her.
A potential departure would mark the end of a once-promising WWE career. Paige became the first NXT Women’s Champion in 2014, and won her first main roster title in grand fashion just two months later. This came the night after WrestleMania 30, which saw her win the Divas Championship on her first night from AJ Lee. Paige received a second title reign later that year.
Since then, the 24-year-old has bounced around the women’s division, receiving opportunities but never walking out with a title. She also got lost in the Women’s Revolution, which saw Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks all rise to the forefront.
So, this may be the latest piece to the puzzle, that leads to Paige’s release. Could it happen soon?
