Why Charlotte Winning at WWE Hell in a Cell Was the Right Move
Despite fans disapproval of Sasha Banks dropping the Women’s Championship to Charlotte at Hell in a Cell, it actually will end up the best move WWE could’ve done.
For the first time in the history of WWE, the women’s division main evented a pay-per-view. Along with that, it was the first time two women had entered the Hell in a Cell.
Since coming up to the main roster, Sasha Banks and Charlotte have been changing the perception of the women’s division. It did not have two women this talented since Trish Stratus and Lita during the Attitude Era.
For the last few months, Sasha and Charlotte have been battling for the Women’s Championship. The Queen brought the belt over to RAW when she was drafted third overall in the draft, with The Boss becoming the second female drafted that night. On the first episode of RAW after the draft, the two stole the show, with Banks winning the Women’s Championship.
The two would then clash at Summerslam with Charlotte reclaiming her throne when she beat The Boss for the Championship. A few weeks later, the title would change once again as Sasha won on Monday Night RAW.
The two were then set to face one another at Hell in a Cell. The match became the first time women competed in a Hell in a Cell match. Going into her hometown of Boston, Sasha Banks was viewed as the favorite to win the match.
However, after a back and forth match, Charlotte shocked everyone when she left the cell victorious winning her third Women’s Championship. Many fans have seen to be upset in WWE taking the belt off Sasha so soon. The Nature Girl having the gold though was the best move WWE could make.
The biggest reason why Charlotte needed to win is that it keeps her impressive undefeated streak in PPV championship matches alive. Her streak is one of the most impressive in WWE Women’s history.
When you look back at all the past dominant females in WWE history, none of them have accomplished a streak this impressive. When the gold is on the line, Charlotte has risen to the occasion every time being now 13-0 in PPV championship matches.
WWE was smart to have her lose to Sasha on RAW as it allowed her to win the championship, but also kept The Queen’s streak alive. With her streak in tact, WWE should emphasize this streak.
With the streak, Charlotte should reign going into WrestleMania. This could set up an epic story line as someone like Banks or Bayley could be focused on being the one to snap this mrk. By the time Charlotte heads into ‘Mania, she could be around 17-0 if she defends the title at all of the upcoming PPVs for the RAW brand.
The move back to Charlotte as champion is the right decision as it gives the RAW division more time to develop and grow. This is because with Sasha now open, along with Bayley, the duo can now work with girls like Emma, Nia Jax and eventually Paige (when or if she returns).
The pair and can help developing talent eventually ending with Charlotte challenging them one by one, successfully defending her title. The Dirtiest Girl in the Game has also shown she is the top female on RAW.

Charlotte is one of the only Heel’s that can really generate legit heat from the crowd. The fact is that she truly feels she is the greatest and plays the cocky heel fantastically. Her microphone skills are also top notch and she really knows how to get the crowd angry.
Sasha and Bayley are both great but the two still have some growing pains they need to correct. The former for one needs to work a less crazy style as she is constantly getting hurt.
Bayley, on the other hand, is still relatively new to the main roster and is trying to find out where she fits in. She has all the skills to be the face of the division, it’s just looking like it will take some more time.
Charlotte’s streak could really become a great story line and build going into WrestleMania. With her fantastic microphone work, she could really sell a story on how to know one will ever break her streak. This could really build up another female who ends the streak, as she could brag that they were the 1, in (blank) and 1.
The Nature Girl has shown that with her undefeated streak at PPV’s, her ring work and her microphone work that she is truly the best female in the division. With all this in mind that’s why she deserved to reclaim her throne at Hell in a Cell. Will Sasha, Nia Jax or Bayley end her streak? Who knows, it could be someone not on the main roster just yet?
