Triple H Says WWE Has Talked to Ronda Rousey
During an interview, Triple H confirmed that WWE has talked to Ronda Rousey about potentially working together.
Ronda Rousey has been connected to WWE since her WrestleMania 31 appearance in 2015. She did an in-ring segment with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon, and has even appeared backstage on a few occasions. This led to everyone wondering if the former UFC Bantamweight Champion would ever make another appearance.
Earlier this fall, Stephanie McMahon told TMZ that WWE will try to sign Rousey. However, her UFC career is still in the way of that happening (Rousey had said she may look to retire soon).
On Thursday, Triple H was in the United Kingdom to announce WWE’s new tournament for 2017. He would get interviewed by the Daily Star Online and got asked about Rousey potentially signing with WWE. This led to a few intriguing quotes from the company executive:
“I know that she’s [Rousey] is a massive fan.
“I know that she had a wonderful time when she worked with us in the past and I know we’ve talked about doing things in the future.”
This is certainly noteworthy. It’s the first time anyone from WWE has confirmed talks with Rousey since McMahon’s comments, so we may be onto something here between the two parties.
However, Triple H would then say Rousey isn’t done with UFC yet and noted her outside projects that could be in the way:
“Right now she’s focused on unfinished things in the UFC, I know she has a lot of other projects in the work.
He finished things off with a trademark line that we’ve heard before:
“But, never say never in the WWE – we have a great relationship and we’ll see where it goes.”
This is short and sweet, but still the closest thing we have seen on Rousey potentially joining WWE. With WrestleMania 33 around the corner, maybe there’s enough time to work out a deal to have her appear on the show. Maybe a wrestling appearance could even be booked if the stars align.
It’s one small step, but Ronda Rousey doing something with WWE seems like it could happen. Do you think there’s a legitimate chance?
