Daniel Bryan says he had a 'mental breakdown' while filming Total Bellas

BY foxsports • October 5, 2016

WWE's new reality show Total Bellas premieres Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. on E!, and for Daniel Bryan fans, parts of the series may be difficult to watch.

The setup of Total Bellas is that Bryan and wife Brie Bella move in with Nikki Bella and her boyfriend John Cena, with cameras documenting their day-to-day life. The show should provide a revealing look into the lives of four of the biggest stars in WWE over the last decade, but what makes Total Bellas especially interesting is the time period when it was filmed.

In a discussion on Tuesday night's episode of Talking Smack on the WWE Network, Bryan said he was slightly apprehensive about the show finally being released to the public, as it was filmed as many of its main stars were facing very difficult real-life situations. Within the span of a few months in early 2016, Nikki Bella would undergo surgery on her neck, Bryan would be forced to announce his early retirement due to head injuries, and Brie Bella would retire from WWE to focus on building a family.

Bryan said that cameras were on him as he was having a "mental breakdown" over his career status.
