Washington State fires women's hoops coach June Daugherty

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) Washington State women's basketball coach June Daugherty will not return next season.

Athletic director Patrick Chun announced the change Tuesday, saying a nationwide search for a new women's basketball coach will begin immediately.

The Cougars finished 10-20 this season, and Daugherty missed the end of the season because of health problems.

She was hired ahead of the 2007-08 season and in 11 years led the Cougars to a 130-218 record with three appearances in the WNIT.
