No. 23 DePaul women rout rival Illinois State 89-41

CHICAGO (AP) Chanise Jenkins scored 17 points and passed seven assists as No. 23 DePaul bounced back from a home court loss to No. 1 Connecticut to rout intrastate rival Illinois State 89-41 Saturday night.

The Blue Demons (6-2) built a 10-point lead in the first quarter, 26-16, and outscored the Redbirds 31-8 in the second quarter.

Katrina Beck hit a 3-pointer less than a minute into the contest to give Illinois State its only lead of the game, 3-2.

Jessica January finished with 13 points and Amarah Coleman added 10 points off the DePaul bench.

Octavia Crump scored 14 points and Shakeela Fowler added 10 more for the Redbirds (1-6).

The Blue Demons lead the all-time series with Illinois State, 12-3.

DePaul hits the road to face No.3 Notre Dame, No. 12 Texas A&M, South Dakota State and No. 15 Northwestern.
