No. 16 Miami women pull away from Boston College 67-62
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (AP) Jessica Thomas scored 14 points, Adrienne Motley added 13 and No. 16 Miami beat Boston College 67-62 on Thursday night.
The Hurricanes (19-4, 7-3 ACC) have won six of their last eight, and pulled into a third-place tie in the conference standings with North Carolina State (16-7, 7-3), which lost to Notre Dame.
Mariella Fasoula scored 19 points to lead the Eagles (13-9, 1-8).
Boston College had its last lead, 35-33 with six minutes left in the third quarter before the Hurricanes had a 14-5 run and led 47-40. Emese Hof scored four points and Laura Cornelius made a 3-pointer during the stretch.
The Eagles answered with an 8-2 spurt to open the fourth quarter and pull to 49-48. Cornelius and Motley made 3s, and Keyona Hayes converted a 3-point play to stretch the Hurricanes' lead back to seven points with five minutes remaining.
Fasoula's 3-point play cut the Eagles' deficit to 66-61 with 15 seconds left.
