The Scarlet Knights were able to beat Georgia Tech's full-court press with few missteps.

''There's no question that our handling of the press was key,'' Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer said. ''We were calm.''

Still, the Scarlet Knights turned the ball over a game-high 24 times.

''We were trying to go from A to C, rather than going from A to B to C,'' Stringer said. ''We just have to get better.''

Monique Oliver had 10 points and eight rebounds for Rutgers. Betnijah Laney scored nine, and Erica Wheeler and Khadijah Rushdan each chipped in eight.

Stringer said she was pleased with her veteran leaders.

''I thought we had a good balance between older and younger players,'' she said. ''And I'm pleased with the way our veterans were teaching the younger players.''
