Paul Nixon is out as Columbia's women's basketball coach after eight seasons.

Athletic director M. Dianne Murphy said Wednesday that Nixon's contract will not be renewed.

The winningest coach in school history, Nixon won 70 games with the Lions, including a school record 18 four years ago. They were 5-23 this season, went 3-11 in the Ivy League.

Murphy says the school is launching a national search to find Nixon's replacement.
