Adams leads No. 8 Texas A&M past Michigan 67-49

Texas A&M coach Gary Blair is still tinkering with his lineup to found the right combination.

Even with a 14-point halftime lead, Blair started Sydney Colson in the second half and the eighth-ranked Aggies responded, scoring eight of the first 10 points in the second half to cruise to a 67-49 win over Michigan on Saturday night in the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic.

''I started Sydney (Colson) in the second half to provide a spark to the team and I thought that was key,'' Blair said. ''The offense just runs smoother when she's in the ball game.''

Texas A&M extended its lead to 61-33 midway through the period before Michigan closed the game on a 16-6 spurt.

Danielle Adams scored 17 points and Adaora Elonu added 14 to lead the Aggies (5-0).

''We did some good things in the ball game tonight. They were clogging it up in the middle and leaving us the outside shot the whole ball game we just didn't hit our share of the shots. Tyra (White) did a good job and (Adaora) Elonu was very good in the second half,'' Blair said. ''Danielle (Adams) was being squeezed in there and sometimes we have to put her on the outside like we did last year. It was a good win.''

Texas A&M held a four-point lead early before going on a 9-1 run. Michigan trailed by 14 at halftime.

Kate Thompson scored 12 points to lead Michigan (3-3).

The Wolverines committed a season-high 22 turnovers and were outrebounded 38-22.

''Texas A&M is really good and it was a great growing up experience for us,'' Michigan coach Kevin Borseth said. ''We didn't play very well, because they made us not play very well.''
