Minnesota Lynx extend Whalen, Augustus
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The Minnesota Lynx have signed stars Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen to multiyear contract extensions.
The Lynx announced the signings on Thursday before they departed to play Indiana. Terms were not disclosed, but the deals ensure that the two veterans plan to continue playing for the immediate future.
Whalen is 34 and in her 13th season. Augustus is 32 and in her 11th year. Together, they teamed with Maya Moore and Rebekkah Brunson to lead the Lynx to three championships and four appearances in the WNBA Finals over the last five years.
They are showing no signs of slowing down later in their careers. This season, the defending champions are a league-best 26-6 and have locked up homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.
