CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) Ivory Latta is leaving North Carolina's women's basketball staff to focus on her playing career.
The school announced Latta's resignation Friday.
Latta says coaching at her alma mater has been ''a dream come true'' but adds that she needs to pursue other opportunities in the sport.
Latta spent two seasons as an assistant to Sylvia Hatchell and helped the Tar Heels reach the Sweet 16 twice. Hatchell says Latta has ''numerous opportunities to return to playing overseas during the school year'' and leaves with her blessing.

Latta, one of the most decorated players in program history, also plays for the WNBA's Washington Mystics and was an all-star in each of the last two years.
