UFC Sacramento: Mike Perry to Fight Alan Jouban
UFC on FOX 22 added an early Fight of the Night candidate as Mike Perry takes on Alan Jouban in Sacramento.
Heavy hitters, Mike Perry (9-0) and Alan Jouban (14-4) are set to meet in the Octagon at UFC on FOX 22. The welterweight scrap will take place on December 17 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Brian Martin of the LA Daily News reported the bout Monday afternoon.
Perry entered the third round for the first time in his professional mixed martial arts career, but continued his finishing his ways after knocking out Danny Roberts earlier this month at UFC 204 in Manchester.
“Platinum” improved to 2-0 in the Octagon and has knocked out all nine of his opponents. The brash 25-year-old Michigan native will be heading into his fifth fight in 2016.
Jouban earned a Fight of the Night bonus as well as the victory after a unanimous decision over Belal Muhammad in July. “Brahma” is on a two-fight winning streak and is 5-2 inside the Octagon. The model fighting out of California has three Fight of the Night bonuses since joining the UFC.
Both Jouban and Perry are nearly exclusively stand-up fighters, which makes for a very exciting matchup at welterweight. Perry made his presence known in August with his fake handshake weigh-in against Hyun-Gyu Lim, then backed up his personality with a brutal knockout on the main card.
Jouban is less polarizing, but just as powerful. With overwhelming knockouts against Aussies Richard Walsh and Brendan O’Reilly, and three brutal knockdowns against Belal Muhammad, the model should not be taken lightly.
UFC on FOX 22 will be headlined by a five-round women’s strawweight bout between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall will also take place in the fifth event in Sactown.
