UFC Mexico: Oliveira Misses by an Entire Weight Class, Fight Still On
Charles Oliveira weighed right on the lightweight mark of 155-pounds for UFC Mexico. The only problem is that lightweight is not his division and he missed weight by 10 pounds.

When thinking of repeat offenders of missing weight, Charles Oliveira is certainly a popular name in that discussion. This afternoon he found a brand new low in what has been an ongoing issue with the young featherweight prospect.
Oliveira weighed an entire weight class above his own, weighing in at 155-pounds, therefore missing the 146-pound cut-off by 9 pounds. In a last ditch effort, they brought the towel in and shockingly enough Oliveira’s clothes did not happen to weigh 10 pounds.
Oliveira’s opponent, Ricardo Lamas, made the featherweight. Lamas recently had his main event fight against BJ Penn cancelled due to an injury to Penn, so he had no intention of turning this fight down despite the ridiculous weight discrepancy. Oliveira will be fined 30-percent of his fight purse which will be given to Lamas and is ineligible for a post fight bonus.
This is Oliveira’s fifth time missing weight in his UFC career. This is the largest miss in his career and his third time missing weight by more than 5 lbs. The other four times are below:
Oliveira was not the only one to miss weight this afternoon, Felipe Arantes also missed weight, though not an entire weight class over, still 2 lbs over weighing in at 138. Everybody else on the card made weight and there are no cancellations to tomorrows card headlined by Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson.
