UFC Houston: The Korean Zombie, Three Others Win Bonuses
Chan Sung Jung landed Performance of the Night honors in his return, as did Marcel Fortuna in his UFC debut. Jessica Andrade and Angela Hill took home Fight of the Night honors.
On the eve of Super Bowl 51 and roughly eight miles from the site of the big game, UFC Fight Night in Houston delivered strong from start to finish. Chan Sung Jung, Marcel Fortuna, Jessica Andrade and Angela Hill all earned bonuses and will each take home $50,000.
Despite a three-and-half-year absence from the Octagon, Jung, best known as “The Korean Zombie,” did not seem to lose a step while facing a top 10 featherweight in Dennis Bermudez. Jung won by knockout midway through the first round to close out the event in Houston. It is his sixth bonus performance of his career, including with five of them coming in the UFC and one in WEC.
Fortuna got off to a rough start against Anthony Hamilton. Prior to the match, Fortuna weighed in at 210.5 pounds, 48 pounds lighter than Hamilton. Early in the match, he took a hit right above his right eye, creating a cut big enough to force referee Herb Dean to briefly stop the match to have the eye examined. But that did not stop Fortuna, coming away with a first round knockout to pick up a win in his UFC debut.

Women’s MMA was represented in style to open up the main card in Houston in a bout between Andrade and Hill, the Invicta FC Strawweight Champion. Although it was a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring it 30-27 in favor of Andrade, Hill still had some notable highlights throughout the match including a knockdown, which made it one of the best fights we have seen so far in 2017. It is Andrade’s second career bonus performance and third for Hill.
