UFC announces tryouts for first all-female season of The Ultimate Fighter
It's time for the ladies to shine.
The UFC is celebrating the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter with a little history. For the first time, the entire cast will be women. Tryouts for the show will be held April 28 at Palace Station in Las Vegas.
Females in the 115-pound division have been invited to give it a shot and there won't be many spots available. In December, the UFC acquired 11 women's strawweight fighters from Invicta FC, including champion Carla Esparza, top contender Claudia Gadelha, fan favorite Felice Herrig and up-and-comers like Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres.
Ladies trying out must be between the ages of 21 and 34, have the legal ability to live and work in the U.S. and have pro MMA fight experience. A winning record in those fights is a must. Tryout applications can be found here.
The winner of the TUF tournament will get a six-figure contract from the UFC and become the inaugural UFC women's strawweight champion. Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez have already been announced as coaches.
The Ultimate Fighter begins filming in May and will premiere on FOX Sports 1 on Sept. 10.
