UFC 206: Choi-Swanson, Vannata, and Holloway Receive Bonuses
Doo Ho Choi, Cub Swanson, Lando Vannata and Max Holloway will all take home extra cash as part of their post-fight bonuses for UFC 206.
Despite multiple changes to the UFC 206 card, including the removal of light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Rumble Johnson in the main event, UFC 206 delivered on a solid night of matches.
Cub Swanson’s win over Doo Ho Choi was named the Fight of the Night. Swanson defeated Choi by unanimous decision. Swanson earned his third straight victory, earning all of them by unanimous decision. Swanson improves to 24-7 and a UFC record of 9-3. Swanson snapped Choi’s 13-fight win streak and handed him his first loss in the UFC. Choi’s overall MMA record drops to 15-2.
Lightweight contender Lando Vannata shined in the main event of the preliminary card for UFC Fight Pass. Vannata’s spinning wheel kick knockout against John Makdessi in the first round earned him Performance of the Night honors. It was Vannata’s first ever UFC win after losing in his debut to Tony Ferguson back in July. Vannata stands at 9-1 and hopes to make some noise in the lightweight division. Vannata’s finish was just one of two fights that ended in the first round throughout the night.

Max Holloway also earned a Performance of the Night bonus as he defeated Anthony Pettis in the main event by TKO (punches), capturing the interim featherweight champion. Holloway picked up his 10th consecutive victory. Holloway holds a record of 17-3, with his last loss coming in 2013, where he lost two fights in a row to Dennis Bermudez and his most recent defeat against Conor McGregor.
Many were surprised that welterweight Donald Cerrone fell short of a bonus after a huge head kick knockout over Matt Brown early in the third round in the co-main event.
The announced attendance was marked at 18,057 for UFC 206 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto with a gate of $1,843,101. ($2,429,300 CAD.)
