Three fights added to November 9 card

Published Sep. 30, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

With less than six weeks to go until UFC Fight Night in Goiania, Brazil, the card is finally nearing completion with the addition of three bouts made in recent days.

The biggest of the trio is a featherweight matchup between octagon veteran Jeremy Stephens and TUF Brazil winner Rony Jason.
Jason (13-3) comes in with an eight-fight win streak, as well as a perfect three-fight run in the UFC, having earned victories over Godofredo Pepey, Sam Sicilia, and most recently, Mike Wilkinson.

Stephens (21-9) recently made a successful featherweight debut with a decision victory over Estevan Payan. That victory snapped a three-fight losing streak at 155 pounds.

Also added is a lightweight match between Thiago Tavares and Justin Salas, as well as a bantamweight bout matching Lucas Martins against Johnny Eduardo.

Tavares (17-5-1) will be competing for the first time since a knockout loss at the hands of Khabib Nurmagomedov, while Salas (11-4) hopes to ride the momentum of a victory over Aaron Riley.

Meanwhile, Eduardo is attempting to bounce back from a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since May 2012. His last fight marked his first UFC victory, improving his record to 26-9, but he’ll have to shake off the rust to top the surging Martins, who has two straight finish victories and has stopped opponents in 13 of his 14 career wins.

The event takes place at the Goiania Arena, with Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson as the headliner.
