Benson Henderson is an unenviable position.
He is ranked as the No. 1 UFC lightweight contender, yet there is probably little chance of him getting a third opportunity to fight current champ Anthony Pettis after losing in the first two. That effectively means he's going to have to hold his spot until Pettis loses his grip on the gold. Either that or somehow convince UFC brass that there is no more deserving man for the job.
That mission starts at Saturday's UFC on FOX, as he stands across from Josh Thomson, a reputable foe that could help him prove his case, or destroy it completely.
