Roy Nelson could be on the path to UFC gold

"There's a lot of people that look like Roy Nelson, but there's not a people that fight like Roy 'Big Country' Nelson."—Joe Rogan

After a brutalizing decision loss to Fabricio Werdum at UFC 143, Roy Nelson has been on a tear. With three straight Round-1 knockout wins over Dave Herman, Matt Mitrione, and Cheick Kongo, the portly powerhouse is ready to offer the same fate to Stipe Miocic tomorrow at UFC 161 in Winnipeg. With a victory, Nelson arguably becomes the #1 contender against the winner of likely UFC 166 headliners Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.

But don't count out the durable Croatian, whose only UFC loss came at the hands of rising 7-footer Stefan Struve at UFC On FUEL TV 5 last September. Both heavyweights have a lot to prove tomorrow night, which will undoubtedly translate into yet another fireworks display of red, blue, and black.Carleton Curtis
