TJ Dillashaw vs. John Lineker is in the works for UFC 207
A bantamweight fight between former champion TJ Dillashaw and the surging knockout artist John Lineker is being targeted for UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Toronto. ESPN was the first to report the news.
Dillashaw (13-3) had thought he had more than enough secured his rematch with champion Dominick Cruz following his his unanimous decision win over Raphael Assunaco at UFC 200 in July. Cruz, after all, had previously earned a narrow split decision win over Dillashaw in their title fight last January. However, UFC officials instead booked Dillahsaw’s former Team Alpha Male teammate against the champion on the very same card.
Prior to losing his belt, Diallashaw had strung four straight victories together, including a pair of violent finishes over former champion Renan Barão.
Lineker (28-7) has looked like a one-man wrecking machine since making the jump up to bantamweight. In his most recent contest, the Brazilian earned a decision over John Dodson last month. Prior to his performance, the man known as “Hands of Stone” decimated Michael McDonald and Fransisco Rivera with a violent knockouts while earning a decision over Rob Font.
Before these wins, Lineker earned a record of 6-2 as a member of the UFC’s 125-pound division before weight cutting issues forced to jump up a weight class. To date, 13 of his 28 wins have come by way of (T)KO.
UFC 207 will go down on December 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A women’s bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Amanda Nunes and the returning Ronda Rousey will serve as the headliner.
Here is how the rest of the card is shaping up:
