Lyoto Machida draws C.B. Dollaway in Brazil this December
Following weeks of speculation, a middleweight bout pitting Lyoto Machida versus C.B. Dollaway is finally official with the two fighters set to square off on December 20 in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
UFC officials announced the matchup via Twitter on Wednesday.
Machida (21-5) returns to the Octagon for the first time since losing to middleweight champion Chris Weidman in July in one of the best fights in all of 2014. Machida had his moments against Weidman through all five rounds, but ultimately came up short in his bid to win the belt.
Now the Brazilian will go home for his next fight as he looks to climb back to the top of the mountain for another shot at Weidman down the road.
C.B. Dollaway (15-5) will be looking for the biggest win of his career when he faces Machida in his third fight in Brazil in under two years. He's won in both of his previous two efforts over Daniel Sarafian and Cezar 'Mutante' Ferreira.
Dollaway has been surging lately with two wins in a row and four wins out of his last five fights with his only loss coming by way of highly controversial decision.
Now Dollaway has a chance to beat a top five ranked middleweight and inject his name into the title conversation.
Machida vs. Dollaway will take place on the upcoming UFC Fight Night card from Brazil on December 20 although there are no other details about the show just yet. Expect further announcements from the UFC in the coming days.
