Head 2 Head: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks

Published Nov. 13, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

Johny Hendricks has built himself a serious head of steam to take into his UFC 167 welterweight championship matchup with Georges St-Pierre. The lead-fisted southpaw has authored several memorable knockouts, but does he have the goods to land his heavy offense against arguably the most complete fighter the sport has ever seen?

Just months after Anderson Silva’s lengthy reign ended, St-Pierre has designs on breaking Silva’s record of 10 consecutive title defenses. Defeating Hendricks in Las Vegas would put him just one win shy of tying Silva. But if he does it, it will have to come in a match fraught with danger. GSP is so good at so many things that he’s always going to be favored on the stat sheet, but power is a game-changer, so Hendricks has the ability to rewrite history with a single strike.
